ZELPHA R. ZOOK

Zelpha R. Zook, 93, of Memphis, MO, passed away at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO, on February 20, 2002.
The daughter of Frank and Eva (Forbes) Stockton, she was born on June 12, 1908, in Livonia, MO.
She attended grade school and high school in Livonia. At the age of 10, she accepted Jesus as her personal savior and never lost her faith in him.
She was married to George Baird on November 12, 1927, and to this union one son was born, William (Bill) Franklin Baird. On the morning of June 22, 1959, Bill left for work and never was heard from again. Zelpha searched many years for Bill.
In 1967, Zelpha married Don Williams. She worked for several years at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA, retiring in 1967. In 1968, she moved to Memphis, MO and worked for Dr. Browning.
In 1982, she married Jeff Zook. She stayed and maintained her home until she fell, suffering a broken hip, and became a resident of the Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, MO.
Preceding her in death were her three companions; her parents; one sister, Lillian; and two brothers, Herman and Ray.
Survivors include her longtime caretakers, nephew and wife, Doyle and Helen Garr; a great-great-niece, Marilyn Schup-bach, who works at the Scotland County Care Center and was able to visit Zelpha almost every day; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Musgrove; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held February 23, 2002, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO with the Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiating. Special music was provided by Geraldine Musgrove, Penny Waldren and Mike Stockton. Serving as pallbearers were Gale Brown, Calvin Gray, Pat Stockton, John Wheeler, Caleb Stockton and Gilbert Bradley. Interment was in the Downing City Cemetery, Downing, MO. Memorials have been suggested to the Scotland County Care Center. Arrange-ments were handled by Gerth Funeral Service from their Memphis, MO chapel.
