Iva Lue (McCarty) Arnold, 78, of Hurdland, MO, formerly of Memphis, MO, passed away December 24, 2001 at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville, MO.

She was born September 17, 1923 in Kahoka, MO to Earl V. and Hazel M. (Brammer) McCarty.

She married Okla L. Arnold on February 4, 1942 in LaBelle, MO and to this union seven children were born.

Most of her life was spent in the Memphis, MO area until recently. She resided the last eight and a half months with her daughter, Debbie Poor, in Hurdland. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In 1962, Iva Lue went to work at Davis Co. Hospital in Bloomfield, IA as a dietary worker until 1971. She then proceeded to work at the Scotland Co. Memorial Hospital in housekeeping until her retirement in 1988. She spent much of her spare time sewing, making crafts, and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved to sing and enjoyed her family and church. She was a member of the Richland Baptist Church of Hitt, MO.

Surviving are four sons, Okla L. Arnold, Jr. and wife, Judy of Downing, MO, James E. Arnold and wife, Karen of West Point, IA, Darrell E. Arnold and wife, Mary of Revere, MO, and David L. Arnold of Columbia, MO; three daughters, Donna M. Gray and husband, Gale of Revere, MO, Debbie L. Poor of Hurdland, MO, and Mary Ann Droege of Memphis, MO. She is also survived by two sisters, Twila Watson of Canton, MO and Rosailee Smith of Canton, MO; one brother, Merton McCarty and wife, Dorothy of Memphis, MO; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was blessed with many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Okla in 1993; two grandchildren, Lisa Carlin in 1982 and Jeff Carlin in 1995, and two sons-in-law, Gordon Droege in 1999 and Mike Poor in 2000.

The family has suggested memorials to Richland Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held December 28, 2001 with Rev. Mike Wilson officiating in Payne Funeral Chapel of Memphis, MO. Music selections were by granddaughters, Michelle Taggart, soloist, and Racheal Arnold, keyboard. Casket bearers were grandsons: Robert Arnold, Jimmy Arnold, Ricky Arnold, David Terry, Michael Poor, Jr., and Brandon Arnold. Honorary casket bearers were grandsons: Stephen Carlin, Mark Terry, Clinton Arnold, Eric Arnold, Justin Arnold and Chris Gray. Burial was in Memphis Cemetery of Memphis, MO. Arrangements were by Payne Funeral Chapel of Memphis, MO.
