Deer Blamed For Car Crash East Of Gorin
While hunters in Scotland County escaped the opening weekend of deer season without any injuries, motorists were not as fortunate as one of the four legged animals was blamed for a one-car crash near Gorin November 16.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jonette Ott, 22, of Gorin, was driving a 1998 Dodge Intrepid on Route U, two miles east of Gorin when she swerved to miss a deer. Ott reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a ditch and overturned.
Ott suffered moderate injuries in the accident and was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital. A passenger in the car, Shane Krise, 18, of Gorin, sustained minor injuries and was also transported by ambulance to SCMH.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, the ambulance service, the Gorin Fire Department and the Scotland County Fire and Rescue.
