High Winds Fuel Fire That Destroys Kice Farm Building
Windy conditions were blamed for a trash fire that got out of control and destroyed a grainery building at the Delmar Kice farm and threatened an adjoining barn.
The Scotland County Fire Department responded to the blaze at the farm north of Arbela at approximately 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 22.
The outbuilding was totally destroyed by the fire, which was sparked by a burning brush pile nearby. A large number of tires and machinery parts was destroyed in the fire.
Firemen responded to the scene with four fire trucks and quickly brought the fire under control, ending the threat to the adjacent barn. The firemen remained on the scene for roughly an hour extinguishing remnants of the fire.
