Luminary Ceremony To Honor Cancer Survivors
A special luminaria ceremony held during the American Cancer Society's Scotland County Relay For Life remembers those lost to cancer and honors those who have survived. Luminaria candles will be lit on June 21, at 9:00 p.m. to represent those individuals.
Anyone desiring to purchase a luminaria may do so by contacting Beverly Moore at 660-465-7077. Each Luminaria candle is $5.00.
"It will be beautiful when all the bags with candles are illuminated around the track," said Beverly Moore, Luminaria chair "We hope to sell enough to light the entire area."
Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event. Teams of eight to 12 members gather with tents and sleeping bags to participate in the largest fund-raising walk in the nation. Relay For Life brings together friends, family, businesses, hospitals, schools, churches . . . people from all walks of life. Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting a cure for cancer. For more information on the Scotland County Relay For Life call 800-684-2733.
