Kirksville Man Facing Felony Drug Charges
A Kirksville man remains in the Scotland County Jail following his arrest for felony possession of marijuana after a routine traffic stop near Memphis.
The vehicle was stopped by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department at 5:12 p.m. May 28 near the intersection of Route W and Highway 15. The Knox County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the drugs were located in the vehicle.
Ryan Neal Vandenbosch, 22, was charged with possession of more than 35 grams of marijuana, a class D felony, after the car he was a passenger in was stopped by the deputy for speeding. Vandenbosch was found in possession of approximately 100 grams of marijuana as well as an electric scale.
The driver of the vehicle, Tonya F. Altum, 27, also of Kirksville, was ticketed for exceeding the posted speed limit, traveling 65 mph in a 55-mph zone, as well as driving a motor vehicle without a valid license.
She was ticketed and released with a June 25 court date. Vandenbosch remained in custody on a 20-hour hold.
