Stuck Accelerator Causes Car To Crash Into School
A stuck accelerator was blamed for a one-vehicle accident that left the old Rutledge School building damaged.
According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, Stacey L. Martin, 23, of rural Memphis, was eastbound on Elm Street in Rutledge when the accelerator on the vehicle she was driving got stuck. The vehicle then traveled off the south side of the roadway where it struck the old grade school building.
Upon impact the vehicle caught fire also spreading to the school building. The blaze was quickly extinguished. No one was injured in the accident and no arrests were made.
