Board Accepts Two Teacher Resignations
Two resignations were received by the Scotland County R-I Board of Education at the organization's February 28 meeting.
The board voted 7-0 to accept the resignations of teachers Lisa Denney and Michael Rube. Denney is a special education instructor while Rube teaches junior high science.
Denney's letter of resignation indicated a need to be home with her three young children. Rube's letter stated he would be relocating to Iowa where he will continue to teach.
The board reviewed three of the 37 procedural evaluations required annually by DESE. Principal Connie Courtney presented the secondary achievement test data report while Principal Rob Moore gave a similar report for the elementary school. Lin Stephenson gave the evaluation for the district's overall assessment plan. All three reports were approved.
Bid Cement Work
The board voted 7-0 to solicit bids for the cement work for the 2002-2003 building trades house basement. The submitted bids will be considered by the board at the March meeting.
Superintendent LeRoy Huff and board members George Koontz and David Kirkpatrick reported attending the Missouri Association of Rural Education conference at the Lake of the Ozarks February 23-24.
The trio told the remainder of the board that the primary focus of the conference was on changing education laws, the serious lack of funding for Missouri schools and the MSIP regulations that are currently being implemented by DESE.
