Lady Tigers JV Victorious In Season Opener
The Scotland County junior varsity girls used a strong second half rally to come from behind for a 25-24 victory over Schuyler County in the team's season opener November 26 in Queen City.
Brandi Mallett scored seven of her game-high 13 points in a crucial third quarter rally that saw the Lady Tigers turn a 17-7 half time deficit into just a one-point margin. Katie Kittle helped the cause with a three pointer during the run and Jacqui Drummond added a key score during the quarter as well.
Jenna Shalley and Rebecca Consbrock both hit key baskets in the fourth period while the SCR-I defense clamped down and allowed just seven points in the second half to help secure the win.
Scotland County had 14 different players see action in the contest that pitted the team against several players who will see plenty of varsity time this year for the Lady Rams.
The SCR-I junior varsity teams will next see action December 10 when the teams travel to Putnam County.
