Lady Tigers Explode For 13 Runs In Rout Of Rams

The Scotland County Lady Tigers batted around in the second and the third innings en route to a 13-3 victory over Schuyler County October 1 in a game shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule.

SCR-I went ahead 1-0 in the first inning when Amy Blomme singled and scored.

The Lady Tigers sent nine batters to the plate in the second frame en route to scoring three runs. Valerie Crawford walked to start the inning. She scored on a fielder's choice by Brenna Cook. Cook and Rebecca Consbrock, who reached on a fielder's choice as well, both came around to score on an RBI single from Meagan Fromm and a bases loaded walk to Sara Eggleston.

The third inning was a near carbon copy, but the Lady Tigers got more production out of the nine at bats, scoring five times to pull ahead 9-0.

Crawford and Faith Woods reached on errors to start the rally. After a walk to Consbrock loaded the bases, Blomme delivered an RBI single. Jessie Cotton cleared the bases with a double before Fromm drove her in with an RBI ground out.

Scotland County made the score 10-0 in the fourth inning when Woods walked and came around to score on a single by Consbrock.

Schuyler County cut into the deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning but SCR-I got all those back in the top of the fifth.

Eggleston singled and scored the first run. Sara Norton reached on an error and scored ahead of Jenna Dial who singled. All three runs were plated by a triple by Cook.

Eggleston retired all three batters in the fifth to close the door on the win. She allowed just two hits, both in the fourth inning. She was perfect in the other four frames, retiring 12 batters in a row, striking out five in the game.
