JV Football Squad Improves To 2-0 In Win Over Indians
The Scotland County junior varsity football team improved to 2-0 with an 18-6 victory over Clark County September 10.
A big play in the first period put the Tigers ahead 6-0. Tim Robinson scored on a 42-yard touchdown run to give SCR-I the lead.
The second big play of the game also benefited SCR-I. Quarterback Danny Roach connected with Thomas Miller for a 40-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion attempt failed, making the score 12-0 at half time.
Scotland County put the game away in the fourth period when Robinson scored on a two-yard run.
Clark County scored on the ensuing kick off, returning it for an 80-yard score to make the final margin 18-6.
Robinson racked up 108 yards on 19 carries, including the two TDs. Roach picked up 22 yards on five carries. Jarod Shelley, Kiel Fogle and Joe Talbert also shoulder some of the rushing load for SCR-I. Roach completed three of four pass attempts for 86 yards and the score. Clint Cottrell caught two passes for 46 yards and Miller had the 40-yard bomb.
The Tigers defense played a dominating roll in the near-shutout. Talbert, Fogle and Shelley each recovered fumbles in the victory.
