Points Leaders Get Chance To Double Purse At SCR Season Finale

The regular season finale at Scotland County Raceway will have added suspense if the points leaders are willing.

Track promoter Ron Anderson announced August 24 that the regular season finale September 1 at SCR will feature a special twist for the points race finale. Any two of the top four points holders will have the option to start at the rear of the pack in the season finale with the lure of a double jackpot for winning the contest.

Anderson noted the option will be offered to the top four points holders, going from highest to lowest points, with the first two to accept the opportunity being sent to the back. If the option is utilized by any of the points leaders it will extend the scheduled feature event by five laps.

The Late model class will offer the biggest lure. If one of the top four drivers was able to come from the back-row starting spot and win the $600 purse would be doubled to $1,200.

The A-Modified class will be looking at a $500 first prize that could be doubled if one of the top four drivers wins from the back row.

The B-modified, stock car and hobby stock classes all feature $300 first place prizes, with the possibility of doubling to $600.

Currently Dennis Woodworth (45DW) leads the late model division with 411 points. Tommy Elston (45) is in second with 370 points followed by Chris Smyser (25S) with 366 points and Jon Fuller (33) with 358 points. Woodworth and Elston will get first shot to start at the rear. If either decline then Smyser will get the option with Fuller getting a chance at the big jackpot if both Elston and Woodworth decline.

The remainder of the late model top 10 points leaders are: Jerry Asher (97) in fifth with 357 points; Jody Wood (51) with 298 points; Jason Krigbaum (11) with 295 points, Justin Fuller (66) with 275 points; Tony Fraise (6) with 272 points and Keith Allen (8A) with 209 points.

In the A-Modified division Jim Roach (13) leads the pack with 402 total points. Lynn Monroe (21M) is second with 379 points followed by Jim Fuller (88) with 375 points and Mark Burgtorf (69M) with 294 points.

The rest of the top 10 drivers are Tony Fraise (45) with 292 points; Kevin Cale (3X) with 285; Dental Williams (82) with 284, Bob Dale (12) with 281, Jardin Fuller (33) with 281 and Harley Harrelson (35H) with 241.

Danny Daggs (04) leads the way in the B-Modified class with 415 points this year. Jim Gillenwater (10) is just off the pace with 398 points. Bobby Cookson (8Z) and Jerry Reese, Jr., (2R) are third and fourth respectively with 378 and 344 points.

Rounding out the rest of the class is Jack Evans, Jr. (00) with 325 points; Jerry Poor (86) with 319 points, Chris Larson (67) with 268 points, Kelly Smith (41) with 244 points, Duane Miller (4M) with 205 points and Bob Hightower (77H) with 173 points.

The Hobby Stock class might be the race to watch for a challenger from the rear. Tony Becerra (2) leads the division with 415 points with Roger Dresden (1) within striking distance at 399. Jeff Soper (43S) is in the mix with 372 points followed by fourth place holder Larry Hooper (23) of Wyaconda with 326 points.

Bill Crowell (6) sets in fifth place with 304 points. Sixth place belongs to Dave Warner (9) with 301 points followed by Mark Holt (11) with 270 points; Larry Newman (20) with 267 points, Kelly O'Haver (99) with 233 points and Justin O'Haver with 224 points.

The stock car class features just seven points recipients meaning the class will offer the best shot at a run from the rear/ Josh Walker (78) will get the first shot at the option as the points leader with 146. Don Kanselaar (28K) is in second just three points behind. Louis Lynch is third with 137 points followed by Harley Hill (85H) with 135 points; Mark Smyser (69) with 77 points; Pete Agee (14) with 71 points and Jim Lynch with 71 points.
