MYRTA MAE HAUPTMANN

Myrta Mae Hauptmann, 94, of Memphis, MO, formerly of Wyaconda, MO and Keokuk, IA, died November 12, 2001, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.
She was born October 21, 1907 near Gregory Landing, MO, a daughter of Orvey Clayton and Jennie Pearl Jones Buck.
She married James M. Hauptmann on April 15, 1939 and to this union two children were born.
Mrs. Hauptmann graduated from the Kahoka High School in 1925. She attended Culver-Stockton College and earned a BA degree in 1959. She was an elementary school teacher for 29 years, teaching in Clark County, MO and in Lee County, IA. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk, IA and has taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a 50-year member of Eastern Star and a member of various teachers' organizations on a local and national level.
Myrta Mae was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and making quilts, making sure each of her grandchildren had a quilt that Grandma had made especially for them.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Ann Clifton and her husband, Robert of Wyaconda, MO; one daughter-in-law, Karen Hauptmann of Memphis, MO; one sister, Naomi Reeves of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Orvey Clyde Buck and his wife, Nellie of Springfield, MO and Rev. John D. Buck and his wife, Hannah May of Olathe, KS; one sister-in-law, Audrey Buck of Springfield, MO; five grandchildren, John David Clifton of Wyaconda, MO, Brad Hauptmann and his wife, Carrie of Raymore, MO, Buffey Hauptmann of St. Louis, MO, Bobbi Hauptmann of Columbia, MO and Josh Hauptmann and his wife, Carolyn of Joplin, MO; two great-grandchildren, Cash and Parker Hauptmann of Raymore, MO and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos and Quentin Buck; one son, John B. Hauptmann; and one grandson, Jamie Clifton.
Funeral services were held November 15, 2001 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka City Cemetery in Kahoka, MO. Pallbearers were grandchildren, John David Clifton, Brad Hauptmann, Buffey Hauptmann, Bobbi Hauptmann, Josh Hauptmann and Carolyn Hauptmann. Memorials were made to the Kahoka Cemetery, the Wyaconda Cemetery, or the Fairmont Cemetery. Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO was in charge of arrangements.
