Norman S. Zimmerman, 83 of rural Rutledge, MO, passed away September 26, 2001, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.
He was born September 29, 1917, in Chester County, PA, the son of David M. and Amelia Stauffer Zimmerman.
On April 12, 1942, in Leonardtown, PA, Norman married Ella S. Stauffer and she preceded him in death on June 4, 1999.
He is survived by five sons, Omar Zimmerman of Rutledge, MO, Shannon and his wife, Miriam Zimmerman of Latham, MO, Fred Zimmerman of Rutledge, MO, Rodney and his wife, Arlene Zimmerman of Denver, PA, and Clay and his wife, Ida Mae Zimmerman of Paltinis, Romania; four daughters, Margaret and her husband, Ray Bange of McConnellsburg, PA, Jean and her husband, Gerald Shank of Greenwood, DE, Sharon and her husband, Alvin Fox of Memphis, MO, and Sandra and her husband, Leonard Zimmerman of Rutledge, MO; a brother, Harvey and his wife, Mary Zimmerman of Loveville, MD; a sister, Mabel and her husband, Lloyd Zimmerman of Ephrata, PA; 40 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, John David Zimmerman; one daughter, Ruth Marie Keesic; six brothers and four sisters.
Following their marriage, Norman and Ella moved to Loveville, MD, where they resided until 1964, and moved to New Chester, PA. In 1974 they moved to Rutledge, MO to make their home.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 4, 2001, at 9:30 a.m. at the Indian Creek Mennonite Church south of Memphis, MO. Burial will be in the Indian Creek Mennonite Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 3, 2001, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Community Building south of Memphis, MO and also from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Norman Zimmerman may be made to the Indian Creek Mennonite Church. Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home of Edina, MO, was in charge of arrangements.
