Delbert Floyd "Deb" Dalton, 84, of Memphis, MO, died September 24, 2001 at his home.
He was born July 15, 1917, in Scotland County, MO to William Newton and Edith L. "Nellie" McDaniel Dalton.
He married Irene Aldridge, April 16, 1936, in Memphis, MO.
He was a resident all his life except ten years when he lived in Nebraska, he was a farmer and had retired from the Scotland County Maintenance Department after 25 years of service, and a member of the Richland Baptist church. He attended school in the Scotland County School system.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Kathryn Faye and husband, Larry Hyde of Danville, IA, Elizabeth Louise and husband, Ernest Humes of Wyaconda, MO, and Karyon Marie and husband, Bill Elsea of Willmathsville, MO; two sons, William Edward and his wife, Bonnie of Memphis, MO and Floyd Eugene and wife, Sherry of Kahoka, MO; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary A. Porter of Eagle Bend, MN, and Wilma J. Garrett of Downing, MO.
He was preceded in death by infant twins; a great-grandson, Anthony Dalton; two brothers, Clyde and Lloyd; one sister, Ivy L. Garrett; brothers-in-law, Herbert and Harold Garrett and Forest Porter.
Funeral services were held September 27, 2001, at the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO with the Rev. Robert Beeler officiating. Burial was in the Richland Cemetery. Pam Glasgow sang and Ann Luther was organist. A granddaughter, Heather Smith, sang a special song she had written entitled "Rock of My Soul". Casketbearers were Leland and Roy Hyde, Junior Arnold, John Wheeler, Lane Hines, and Clifford Scott. Honorary casket bearers were Alva Garrett and Junior Alexander. A memorial has been established to the Richland Cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home of Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
