DWI Suspect Accidentally Shot During His Arrest
At approximately 9:50 P.M., on November 23, 2001, Jerry M.
Caviness, 28, of Alexandria, received an accidental gunshot wound to the upper left leg during his apprehension for felony Driving While Intoxicated.
The injury was sustained on North Montgomery Street in
Kahoka, while a Missouri State Trooper was holstering his weapon as he was assisting the Clark County Sheriff's Department with the arrest.
Caviness was transported to the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, where he was admitted for injuries.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control.
