Committee Suggests School Enhance Outdoor Classroom

The Scotland County R-I School Board met Tuesday, November 20 at 4:30 p.m. in a special scheduled meeting due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

The board heard the final report from the district's pond committee. Committee chairman Paul Campbell read the written opinion of the district's legal representative that recommended the school could continue to use the pond, as is, for environmental and scientific studies.

Campbell stated the committee would like to see the pond area enhanced and improved for school use. The committee also requested the school consider enhancing the outdoor classroom area located near the pond, to increase its usefulness to students and staff for scientific instruction.

Welder Bids

The board advertised three surplus wire feed mig welders for sale last month. Bids were opened at the November meeting with each welder being sold to the highest bidder.

The Lincoln Idealarc 200 welder was sold to Scotland County Commission for $551. Two bids were received for the Millermatic 200 welder with Randy Garnett taking the piece for $650. The Millermatic 250 was sold to the high bid of S.J. Smith for $800.

The board unanimously approved all 13 MSBA policy update recommendations.
