Dr. Lohmeyer Bringing Pediatric Services To Memphis Clinic

Typically the new arrivals discussed in the newspaper are new babies, but this time the new arrival will be a new baby doctor. The Northeast Missouri Health Council recently announced that Pediatrician Dave Lohmeyer, M.D. will be working in the organization's Memphis Clinic located at Scotland County Memorial Hospital on Thursdays with an anticipated start date of early December.

Dr. Lohmeyer has been working with children for the past 20 years in medical practice throughout the state. He received his undergraduate degree from Central Methodist College before graduating from the University of Missouri medical school. He went on to receive his pediatrics training at Indiana University.

November 15 marked the doctor's first visit to Scotland County as he met with residents at the Well Baby Clinic at the Scotland County Health Department. Lohmeyer stated he plans to continue to offer his services once a month at the health department special clinic. He noted that type of service was a special passion of his as he has worked with public health departments across the state the past two decades.

Dr. Lohmeyer stated his practice focuses on the special health care needs of children ranging from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) to asthma, developmental delays, allergies, chronic recurring infections and even school problems.

"I focus on how I can take care of some of these children that have more than the routine medical issues to deal with in their lives," he stated.

In addition to his planned office hours in the NEMO Health Council Clinic on Thursdays, Dr. Lohmeyer plans to perform the Well Baby Clinics at the health department on the third Thursday of each month.

The health department clinic handles the routine health checks such as height and weight and age normal developmental tests. Children age four and older also receive hearing and vision screening. The children are administered immunizations and go through a variety of other screenings such as lead testing. The clinic also offers health guidance and education for the parents.
