Converter Concepts Closing Quincy Plant
Converter Concepts, the electronics manufacturer that owned and operated a plant in Memphis until last year, is continuing plant closings in the region.
According to published reports out of Quincy, IL, the company has announced that approximately 80 workers will be laid off when the company closes its doors to the Quincy plant January 30, 2002. More than half the workforce has already been laid off.
Several former employees of the Memphis plant had transferred to the Quincy site when the local facility closed.
The company reportedly will maintain its computer power supply manufacturing facility in China.
The former Converter Concepts building was purchased by the Scotland County Rec/Plex after the company failed to renew its financial commitment on the site.
