Three-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Crash On Route A
A Wyaconda girl received serious injuries and two other individuals were hurt in a one-vehicle accident on Route A at 6:45 p.m. June 30.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, James Roberts, 35, of Wyaconda was southbound on Route A in a 1988 Pontiac. Roberts reportedly reached for something on the floorboard, loosing sight of the roadway and striking the bridge railing.
The driver's daughter, Shelby Roberts, age three, was seriously injured in the wreck. She was taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital and then life-flighted to University Hospital in Columbia.
Her father received minor injuries in the crash. He was taken by ambulance to SCMH where he was treated and released.
Another passenger in the car, Leann Lovel, 15, of Wyaconda, sustained moderate injuries. She was taken by ambulance to SCMH where she was admitted for treatment.
According to the Highway Patrol report arrests are pending in the case.
The MSHP was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, the Scotland County Ambulance Service and the Scotland County Fire & Rescue Squad.
