June 30 Is Deadline For Tax Credits For Fitness Center Project
The deadline for receiving state income tax credits for donations made to the Scotland County Community Fitness Center ('Rec-Plex') project is fast approaching. Donations must be received by June 30, 2001, in order to qualify for the tax credit program.
The Rec-Plex project is approved for tax credits through the Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). Businesses, landlords, and financial institutions which made donations to the Rec-Plex will receive one-half of their donations back as a tax credit against their Missouri state income taxes.
NAP makes it easier to donate to important community improvement projects, and keeps your tax money here at home, working in our area. If a business cannot use the entire tax credit in a single year, the credits can be taken over several years to reduce tax liability.
The volunteer Rec-Plex board is actively working to develop and expand the former MicroEnergy building into a quality fitness and recreation center for the community. Neighborhood Assistance Pro-gram donations will bring us closer to making this facility for the people of Scotland County a reality. Donations from private individuals and volunteers are also needed and welcome.
For more information, please call (660) 465-8551, extension 4 during the day, (660) 328-6369 evenings, or talk to any Scotland County Fitness Center Board member.
